Please help kill these myths!

1) The income tax is illegal

This hoax was spread largely by the movie "America: From Freedom to Fascism." The claim: Brushaber v. Union Pacific Railroad ruled that the 16th Amendment gave the Congress no new power to tax and Eisner v. Macomber ruled that the definition of income was of profit from corporate activity.

In reality, the Brushaber case ruled 9-0 that the income tax WAS legal and although the 16th gave Congress no new power to tax, it already had that power! The Eisner case said absolutely nothing to suggest that wages were not income. So Russo's entire argument that lower courts weren't complying with the Supreme Court was not true.

The Fed is a scam, and the IRS are thugs, and judges are corrupt. But unfortunately, none of that makes the income tax illegal. If you're going to not pay income tax, call it what it is: CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE. Civil disobedience is a noble tradition in fighting tyranny. Make up fantasy loopholes is not. And it is embarassing the 9/11 Truth Movement.

2) Bush called the Constitution "a goddamned piece of paper."

This entire fabrication has spread for one reason only: it's catchy. The source is Doug Thompson of capitolhillblue.com. It is totally uncorroborated and utterly fantastical. Thompson claims that private Bush aides told him--and nobody else--about this. There is no basis for anyone to believe that Thompson has the connections he claims to have, and in all likelihood, Thompson made this story up in his head, to drive traffic to his site.

3) Anything about there having been no planes hitting the Twin Towers

4) There was something funny going on, because how could have the wings have gone right through those steel exterior columns in the Twin Towers?

5) The Towers fell so fast, controlled demolition is ruled out, must have been advanced weapons, etc.

This is the idea pioneered by Jim Fetzer, who managed to split Scholars for 9/11 Truth over the issue.

Fetzer is famous for this stuff. After JFK, Fetzer declared that all kinds of absurd evidence proves that [i]the entire Zapruder film was inauthentic and was in fact re-created with actors or something.[/i]

The evidence of controlled demolition is very strong--highly corroborated by witnesses, scientists, etc. The evidence of HAARP demolition or whatever is astonishingly weak. Yet people still seem to believe it.

I could go on, but I'll be happy if these are done away with...

Another flashy simulation to try to prove how the Twin Towers could have collapsed the way they did from the impact of the planes. Unfortunately it's already debunked.

Moreover, that the government keeps needing more and more studies to back up their claims only goes to show that the pre-existing studies weren't good enough.

Felicia Dunn-Jones died of lung disease five months after Sept. 11, and last year her family asked that the city's medical examiner add her name to the death toll.

New York City Chief Medical Examiner Charles Hirsch refused, writing back that his office could not link her death to the exposure "with certainty beyond a reasonable doubt."

That changed Wednesday, when Dunn-Jones was added to the medical examiner's list of attack victims. It marked the first time the city has officially linked a death to the toxic dust caused by the World Trade Center's collapse.

The 42-year-old attorney was caught in the dust cloud while fleeing the collapsing towers on Sept. 11, 2001. She died of sarcoidosis, a disease that causes inflammation and scarring in the lungs, on Feb. 10, 2002.

In explaining the reversal, Hirsch cited "accumulated scientific research" that concluded exposure to trade center dust can cause or contribute to sarcoidosis.

"Mrs. Dunn-Jones' exposure to World Trade Center dust on 9/11/01 contributed to her death and it has been ruled a homicide," Hirsch wrote. "Mrs. Dunn-Jones has now been added to the list of people who died as a result of the collapse of the World Trade Center towers."

The city puts the Sept. 11 death toll at the trade center at 2,750. Dunn-Jones will be listed on the Sept. 11 memorial when it opens in 2009, a spokeswoman for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation said.

A class-action lawsuit has claimed that dozens of deaths have been caused by exposure to toxic trade center dust.

A study published this month by a Fire Department of New York doctor linked sarcoidosis definitively to exposure to the toxic plume that enveloped lower Manhattan after Sept. 11. It found that firefighters contracted the disease at a much higher rate after the attacks than before...

another stab:

When she trumpeted 9/11 conspiracy theories recently, suggesting it was an inside job, critics, including AlterNet's Joshua Holland, suggested she helped fuel embarrassing right-wing stereotypes about liberals: "that they're extremists, that they're defined by their fringe and led by out-of-touch Hollywood elites."

Pretty straightforward message from AlterNet: "Political consequences are more important than the truth."

What a bloody joke.

This, we are now being told, legitimizes the official story of 9/11.

In other news, shooting a cantaloupe will cause the cantaloupe to roll forward in the direction of the gun, thus explaining the shot that killed JFK.

On February 12th, Joseph Murtaugh interviewed Lorie Van Auken, and she said, “There’s no good reason for not signing this petition,” says Van Auken. “They’re just documents that help explain events leading up 9/11, and they should be in the public domain. If this petition were ever to hit 15,000 names, we’d take it to Washington.”
